Community Wardrobe

We accept generous donations of clothing, beauty products, shoes, underwear, and socks for our community wardrobes based in Auckland & Taranaki.

Our community wardrobe provides free, fashionable clothing for LBTGIQA+ young people in Auckland & Taranaki

Auckland clothing donation will now be collected by Koha Apparel
Our friends at Koha Apparel kindly collect all our Auckland donations, launder and repair them and then pass them onto us. They also re-use any items not appropriate for donations.
We thank Koha for their generosity in helping us keep the community wardrobe in Auckland running.
please contact them first before dropping a donation off.

Koha accept almost all donations, as long as they’re:

  • freshly laundered.

  • In addition to clothing Koha accept shoes, bags and accessories such as hats, belts etc. — Shoes must have their laces.

  • Minor defects like broken zippers, missing buttons and torn seams are fine; they repair these.

    Items Koha do not accept

  • No clothing with permanent stains

  • Bedding such as pillows, duvet covers, sheets etc.

  • Costumes or fancy dress items

  • Dressing gowns

  • Used underwear, socks or swimwear. Unworn garments are fine.

Binder donations

We love donations of second-hand binders!
Many members of our Rainbow communities find binding freeing, relieving and necessary. However, not everyone is in a position to purchase their own binder.

If you have a binder that you no longer need, we would love to give it a new home with one of the many young people we support.
Donations can be dropped to our drop-in centre at 10 Abbey Street, Monday - Friday 11 am - 5pm or posted to Level 1, 11 Edinburgh Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010.

Auckland donations and Community Wardrobe
Auckland clothing donations are now handled by Koha Apparel, however RY still accepts donations of new and used make up, beauty products and skin care directly.

The Auckland Community Wardrobe is at our Auckland Drop-in Centre and is open Monday - Friday 11am - 4pm.

Taranaki
Clothing donations can be made in Taranaki. You’ll need to Email the regional coordinators to arrange a time as they spend time in the community and aren’t always at the drop-in centre. The Community Wardrobe is free and available, just flick the regional coordinators an email, just to make sure someones there!
