RainbowYOUTH and Affinity Services are pleased to announce that registrations are now open for their Health and Education Wellness Day on the 18th of July. This professional development course will be of interest to those working health and education services and the overlap between them.
Addressing gender and sexual diversity in the classroom and clinic, attendees will learn about how they can support rainbow students and clients in their school and community organisations.
Developing rainbow cultural competency will enrich your skills, language and knowledge of gender and sexual diversity. The course will cover practical tips for creating a rainbow-friendly environment, include handy educational resources and connections to community organisations.
“I’ve been running Rainbow Cultural Competency workshops for mental health workers as part of my work with Affinity Services for the last couple of years. The most common question is ‘How do I have these conversations about gender, sex, and sexuality in a respectful way?’ I am pleased to invite anyone working in health or education (youth or non-youth services) to come and hear from Affinity Services and Rainbow Youth about how to have these crucial conversations. Together, our organisations cover a wide range of health and education contexts, and we’ve got a lot of resources to share!” – Joe Macdonald, Rainbow Community Liaison and Training, Affinity Services.
“We are very excited to be working with Affinity Services on the Health and Education Wellness Day. Our teachers, school nurses, guidance counsellors, social workers, principals and school deans play such an important role in their communities. We want to help them make their spaces the best they can be for our queer and trans* young people!” – Aych McArdle, Education Director, RainbowYOUTH.
