FAQ 1: Why did RainbowYOUTH install CCTV cameras?
To ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and members. We hope that these cameras will deter any potential crimes, or be able to provide evidence of crimes if they are committed.
FAQ 2: When are the cameras in operation?
The cameras are motion activiated, so will be recording when they sense movement in their field of vision.
FAQ 3: How is the footage stored?
The footage is stored securely on a hard drive at the RainbowYOUTH Centre and is only accessible by senior staff of RainbowYOUTH.
FAQ 4: Who can access the footage?
Senior staff at RainbowYOUTH.
FAQ 5: Do the cameras record video and audio?
Yes, the cameras record both audio and video.
FAQ 6: What happens if I don’t want to be recorded?
We can work out alternative arrangements, such as you waiting outside the centre for staff or interns to get you what you need (like a cup of tea), or by organising a meeting at an alternative location (subject to agreement by staff at RainbowYOUTH).
FAQ 7: When will the footage be used?
Footage will only be used if there is reason to believe a crime has taken place at RainbowYOUTH or if NZ Police issue a warrant for footage. Footage will never be released publically beyond this without the written consent of those in the footage.
