Generation Queer (GQ) is RYs’ peer-support group for under 18 year olds, who identify as queer, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, takatāpui, fa’afafine, questioning or curious.

Who goes to it?
GQ usually has between 10 and 20 young people at each group ranging in age from 13 to 18. Most people who come are at high school. We have people coming along from all parts of Auckland, from as far south as Manukau, up to as far north as Orewa.
What happens there?
GQ creates a fun, supportive and informed environment for you to meet new people, make friends, ask questions, get advice, enjoy yummy food and drink, play board games, watch movies and generally just chill.
Keep a track of the GQ Facebook group for updates about what things are happening during the next meeting.
When and where we meet:
Every 2nd Friday, 6.30pm till 8.30pm at the RY drop-in centre (281 Karangahape Road, Auckland). Check out the RY calendar to find out when the next meeting is.
Coming along once doesn’t commit you to anything; some people come to every meeting and some come when they can – it doesn’t matter. You’re always welcome.
GQ has facilitators that lead each meeting, run activities and make sure things are going smoothly. You can get in touch with them by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
Like all RY groups, GQ is totally drug, smoke and alcohol free.
